Public Health Grant

Hi all

Does anyone know anything around the possible extension of the Public Health Grant until April 2019? Duncan Selbie's post on the link below refers to the Public Health minister extending the ringfence in line with Business rate retention introduction.

  • Hi There
The public health grant is ring-fenced for 2018/19 and after that will move to 100% Business Rate Retention. there is a letter from Duncan Selbie to the CEO's of "Upper Tier Local Authorities in England" dated 9th March which states this:

"Today the Public Health Minister, Nicola Blackwood, in her speech at the LGA/ADPH Public Health Conference has reiterated the Government's commitment to the move of the ring-fenced public health grant to 100% Business Rate Retention. This will come into effect from April 2019 with the ring-fence grant continued until then."
