Discretionary Housing Payments


We been building up a provision for unused Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP) in our General Fund Balance sheet for a few years. We do, of course, release the appropriate amount to revenue on a case-by-case basis where the private tenant is in financial difficulties.

But is there a time limit we can hold onto these unused DHPs ?

Our Housing Service applies to Revenue & Benefits based on the cases we have but if the evidence suggests we have overprovided, do we have to hand it back to MHCLG ?
