Council's Lord Mayor's Charity

Hello

the Council sends an invoice to the Lord Mayor's Charity (staff employed by the Council to work 100% on Charity matters) and includes VAT.

Is this correct or as it is simply a means of funding their salary would this be generally outside the scope of VAT.

Any advice much appreciated.

  • The member of staff is working on charity matters, so you are making a supply of staff to the charity.  They are receiving something in return for their payment, it isn't just funding the council's costs.  You are right to charge VAT.
